SrinagarA meeting of the Committee on Estimates of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held here Wednesday under the Chairmanship of MLA Mohammad Ashraf Mir to review the functioning of Health and Medical Education Department.
Threadbare discussions were held on the establishment of trauma centres, deployment of emergency medical staff and critical care ambulances along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway to avoid human losses due to road accidents.
Legislators, Mubarak Gul, Abdul Majeed Padder, Yawar Ahmad Mir, R.S. Pathania, and Dr. Shenaz Ganai were also present in the meeting.
The Committee members stressed on early deployment of critical care ambulances in hospitals of the State to provide an effective response in case of emergency situations where patients require a higher level of care.
The meeting also discussed various issues related to the posting of doctors and technical staff in rural areas. The members observed that there should be a comprehensive policy to fill up the vacant posts of doctors and paramedical staff in hospitals across the State.
On the occasion, the Committee chairman directed the health officials to incentivize postings in rural areas so that quality healthcare facilities are ensured to the people.
He also directed the concerned to take innovative measures to improve health infrastructure in the State for providing better facilities to the people. He also called for taking effective sanitation and cleanliness measures in and around health institutions.
The meeting was also attended by senior offices of Health and Medical Education Department and Assembly Secretariat.
