KargilInfluential religio-social organisation of the frontier Ladakh region, Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Tuesday denounced the statement of Ladakh MP in parliament which favoured abrogation of Article 370.
IKMT said the statement by the BJP leader and MP in the parliament reflects the BJP interest and was not in consonance with the wishes and aspirations of the people of Ladakh region.
According to the IKMT, Article 35 A of Indian constitution is not an obstacle but it facilitates and strengthens the emotional bondage of the people of J&K with the rest of India.
We register our anger and protest on the effort of some section of people to do away with the Article 35A of the constitution of India using legal and other means, the statement reads.
Appealing all the stake holders in Jammu and Kashmir, the statement calls upon all stakeholders of the state of J&K to rise above the partisan politics and get together against tinkering of Article 35A.
Meanwhile addressing Independence day function after unfurling the tricolor, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC (Kargil) Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan reiterated his Councils commitment to safeguard the Article-370 and Article 35-A. He impressed upon the Central Government for urgent intervention in this regard and said, We must all unite and protect Article 370.
