SrinagarPolice On Monday barred MLA Er Rasheed from visiting APHC (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his residence,. Rasheed was scheduled to attend a meeting with Hurriyat leader, Awami Itihad spokesperson said in a statement.
As soon as Er Rasheed reached Mirwaiz Umar Farooqs residence at Nageen, a police party stopped him at the gates. Concerned SHO used foul language and also snatched cell phones from MLA, the statement said.
Party spokesman condemned the police action and accused the government of squeezing the space for political reconciliation and finding a common ground to fight for the rights of people of the state.
Meanwhile, Rasheed while congratulating people of India on eve of their independence day asked, “Why should Kashmiris be forced to hoist tri-colour on the eve of 15th August every year”.
J&K never got freedom on 15th August 19 47 but in fact just 72 days after India won freedom New Delhi on the dint of her military might snatched freedom of Kashmiris and has failed to full fill promises of giving Kashmiris their Right to Self Determination, Rasheed said.
He said that 15th August has also lost its relevance due to the fact that New Delhi is using its institutions to humiliate and snatch the rights from people of Jammu & Kashmir.
The statement quoted Rasheed saying that AIP will observe Indias Independence Day as a Black Day and will host a black flag at Bakhshi Stadium to tell the common masses of India that J&K is a disputed territory.
