SrinagarTwo civilians were killed in police firing in South Kashmir on Sunday after protests broke out against killing of three militants, including operational commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Muhammad Yasin Itoo, in an encounter with army in Awaneera Shopian.
A youth identified as Owais Ahmad, son of Muhammad Shafi Dar of Kakapora Pulwama was seriously hurt when he was shot with pellets by CRPF at Kakpora Sunday evening.
Sources said the CRPF coming from Shopian was hurled with stones at Kakapora in Pulwama and it fired pellets which hit Owais in his chest, causing grievous injuries.
He was shifted to nearby hospital from where he was referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar where doctors declared him brought dead.
In another incident a 26-year-old was killed in forces firing at Shopian.
A police officer said that a youth identified as Mohammad Sayed Bhat s/o Ghulam Hassan of Zainpora was injured critically in firing by government forces in Shopian and was shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar for treatment. He later succumbed to his grave bullet injuries.
