JammuAt least 10 persons were killed and fifteen others injured after a vehicle (Tempo) skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge in Mahore tehsil of Reasi district of J&K on Wednesday.
A senior police officer said that the tempo, bearing registration number JK02 AG-0730, was on way to Mahore from Buddan over turned and falls into a gorge near Shishi Nallah at around 8:15 am, resulting into on spot death of ten persons and injuring 15 others.
“All the injured were immediately shifted to nearby hospital while as the critically injured have been airlifted to Jammu hospital for specialized treatment”.
The official identified the deceased persons as Javed Ahmed (26) S/o Abdul Rashid R/o Jamslan Mahore, Wazira Begum (35) W/o Mohd Sharief R/o Jamslan Mahore, Charan Singh (22) S/o Faquir Chand R/o Buddan, Liquat Ali (20) S/o Abdul Hamid R/o Buddan, Mohd Ashraf (19) S/o Abdul Rashid R/o Buddan, Mohd Asif (14) S/o Ali Mohd R/o Jamslan Mahore, Jamat Ali S/o Manzoor Ahmed R/o Jamslan Mahore and Mubbashar Ahmed age 05 yrs S/o Bahadur Din R/o Sildhar.
He said that the identity of the two deceased are yet to be ascertained.
Governor N.N. Vohra has expressed grief over the tragic loss of lives in an unfortunate road accident at Mahore area of the Reasi district.
In a message the Governor has prayed for peace to the departed souls and wished the bereaved families the strength to bear this sad loss. He has wished speedy recovery to those injured in this accident.
The Governor has expressed deep concern over recurring road accidents and re-iterated that every concerned agency should be held accountable for strictly enforcing regulations regarding the age and worthiness of the passenger carrying vehicles, condemnation of unfit vehicles, overloading, over-speeding, fitness and past record of drivers to ply passenger vehicles on notified hill roads, and punitive summary fines to be paid by the offenders. He noted that no unqualified/ unlicensed person must be allowed to drive any personal, transport or commercial vehicle.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed shock and grief over the loss of lives in a tragic road accident at Mahore in Reasi district today when a tempo traveler they were travelling in fell into a deep nallah.
