SrinagarGovernment Medical College has given a clean chit to a resident doctor accused of looting the attendants of a cancer patient for one and a half.
Abdul Ahad Nengroo a resident of Shumnag village of Chadoora town of Central Kashmirs Budgam district in his complaint to GMC, Crime Branch and Jammu Kashmir Health Minister had alleged a resident doctor failed to diagnose the disease of his late wife at a private hospital in Srinagar and was treating her for colic instead of cancer which she was suffering from.
The said doctor was collecting Rs 40,000 weekly from me for the treatment of my late wife Hajira. He used to suggest the medicines required for stomach ailment while she was suffering from cancer. He looted me financially for one and a half year, the complainant had claimed.
It was the responsibility of the said doctor to inform me about the real disease of my wife, but to loot me unabated he continued to treat her for stomach ailment. I was forced to sell my ancestral land comprising 2 kanals for Rs 6 lakhs to pay fee to the doctor.
The Doctor (name withheld) in question said that after enquiry he was absolved of all charges while Principal Government Medical College Srinagar Dr Saima Rashid said that an enquiry committee headed by Prof. Parvez Ahmed Shah, Head of the Department Medicine looked into the allegations and found them baseless. The complainant probably wants some relief which is out of question, she said. (CNS)
