SrinagarA day after obscene pictures of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Niraj Kumar went viral on social media, Jammu and Kashmir Government attached him in the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu on Friday.
Pending enquiry into his conduct, Niraj Kumar, DC Udhampur is hereby attached in the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu, an order issued by the Government reads adding Mr Arvind Sharma KAS, Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur shall look after the work of Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, till further orders.
The objectionable photographs of Niraj Kumar, 2010 AIS officer of J&K cadre, who hails from Bihar went viral on social media sending shock waves across the State.
Kumar who had assumed the charge of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur in May 2016, relieving Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary could be seen in objectionable position with two women lying on a bed in the photographs.
This is shocking that man like him who was the head of the prestigious Education Department in Kashmir could stoop so low. Such debauch officers should be shown door without any delay, said a senior official to news agency CNS.
If sources are to be believed, these objectionable photographs have been taken in a hotel at Udhampur. Both the women whose faces are barely visible hail from Udhampur district, according to media reports. The officer in the photographs seems to be dead drunk giving ample opportunity to the intruder to click the pictures.
Another officer from the state cadre, complained that it has become unbearable to see some officers indulging in perverted activities and then getting away with mild punishments, like temporary attachments and transfers. Prior to this a high ranking bureaucrat who had eloped with another lady officer of IAS cadre was let free with a mild punishment, when the latter attempted to end her life.
She and the senior officer believed to be responsible for inducing her to attempt suicide, both were let free with just changing their places of postings, the officer said.
Pertinently the officers allegedly involved in this extra marital affair culminating at the attempted suicide of the lady officer, both were posted on sensitive postings, education and district administration respectively. The matter had taken a serious turn, when the lawmaker Javed Mustafa Mir created ruckus in the state assembly over the issue. (CNS)
