SrinagarDeputy Inspector General of Police, Central Kashmir Range, Ghulam Hassan Bhat Thursday inaugurated T-20 Cosco tournament at District Police Lines Budgam. The tournament is being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police, a statement from its media department said.
According to the statement, the tournament is being organized with an aim to enhance sports talent of the youth.
Bhat, as per the statement, said that the J&K police were providing a platform to the youth of the state to harness their capabilities in the field of sports.
A number of programmes are organised every year in all the districts of Kashmir as well, he said.
He extorted the youth to work hard in the fields that they chose and strive for excellence. He hoped that the youth will take full use of the opportunity and will show their talents in the field as well in this tournament.
The statement said that a total of 64 teams from different parts of District Budgam and Srinagar are participating in the event. The inaugural match was played between Star Boys Bagwanpora and Sheik-ul Alam, Shekhpora. The live score of the match can be seen from the mobile app Crichereos on android phones.
Sheikh Alam Sheikhpora beat Star Boys Bagwanpora by 25 runs in the inaugural game of the tournament. Batting first Sheikh Alam Shiekhpora scored 94 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 12 overs. Star Boys Bagwanpora managed to score only 69 runs losing the game easily.
Mohammad Haroon, D.C Budgam, Tejinder Singh, SSP Budgam, Vinod Karthak C.O CRPF 43 Bn, Amod Ashok Nagpure ASP, Budgam, Mir Rasheeq DySP DAR Budgam and captains of all the teams were in attendance to watch inaugural ceremony.
