SrinagarThe Department of Surgical Gastroenterology, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura Saturday organized a CME on PORTAL HYPERTENSION
Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat was chief guest on the occasion, while as the internationally recognized faculty in the field besides the faculty from SKIMS Medical College, Government Medical College Srinagar and its associated hospitals participated.
Prof Omar Javed Shah, the organizing chairman for the present function welcomed the guests and said that SKIMS has become the ultimate hope status for the people of the state. He also highlighted the objective of the CME.
Prof Altaf Rehman Kirmani, Dean Faculty, SKIMS in his brief address briefed about the present achievements in the academics and also spoke on the importance of the CME.
Director SKIMS Prof. A.G Ahangar spoke highly of the quality of work & volume of patients addressed in the department of Surgical GE with the contribution well taken over all around the globe. He welcomed the Minister and other dignitaries for gracing the occasion.
Dr Sadaf Ali Organizing Secretary presented vote of thanks & acknowledged the contribution of all towards to make this important CME a great success. She conveyed special thanks to Prof. S. Nandy, the pioneer of Surgical Gastroenterology in India & Prof. Ajay Kumar from Fortis Escorts New Delhi for sparing their valuable time to grace the occasion and enlightening the young doctors on the advancements in the field.
Prominent among those attended the CME included, Prof. M.S Khuroo, renowned Gastroenterologist of valley & Prof. Showkat A. Zargar & Prof. Mehraj-ud-din former Directors of SKIMS Soura, Prof. M. Afzal Wani , former Dean and Principle SKIMS Medical College, Bemina and Prof. Riyaz A. Untoo, the present Principal, SKIMS Medical College.
