SRINAGAR: Claiming Rs 5 million compensation, a Tangmarg resident has sent a legal notice to a leading business house of the Valley, alleging that his photograph has been used by the company for promotion of its brand without his consent.
Mohammad Abdullah Lone S/o Ali Mohammad Lone of Qazipora Tangmarg through his counsel Tahir Majid Shamsi and Aashiq Ahmad Magray has issued a legal notice to the Managing Director (MD) Khyber Industries for using his (Lones) photograph for product advertisement without his knowledge and consent.
The legal notice served to the MD has asked him that it used the photograph of Lone without his consent and utilized it for advertisement through print and electronic media including hoardings and pamphlets.
That by utilizing the photographs of our client you have breached the legitimate rights of our client for furthering your business and as such you are liable to render the accounts on account of the profits made by you by utilizing the photographs of our client. You are further liable to pay an amount of Rupees fifty lakh as compensation to our client for using his photographs without his consent, reads the legal notice. KNS
