Shopian: Clashes erupted at South Kashmirs Shopian district when the students of Degree College tried to carry out a protest march against the killing of young student Aadil Ahmed Magray.
Aadil was killed at Gonowpora village of Shopian district when government forces reportedly fired at protesters who were throwing rocks on them to ensure the escape of militants.
Reports said that the students of Degree College Shopian boycotted the classes and tried to carry out a march amid pro-Azadi sloganeering.
Reports said that police and paramilitary forces who were deployed there in strength resorted to massive tear smoke shelling on the protesting students to disperse them. However, the students resisted and pelted stones on the forces personnel.
Reports said that one girl student fainted in the incident.
Pertinently, the colleges and universities of Kashmir valley reopened after many days in Kashmir. Authorities had suspended class work in the higher educational institutions fearing protests post Aadils killing.
