SrinagarServices Selection Board (SSB) has made a mockery of recruitment rules with regard to some posts advertised four years back. The same has led to disillusionment among the youth who have applied for these posts.
The candidates who had applied for these posts appeared in written examination and subsequently were called for interviews were shocked after they were asked to re-appear in the aptitude test. The candidates lament over the lackadaisical attitude of the Board and said that the Board is hell bent on spoiling the career of the unemployed youth.
In 2013 the SSB invited applications for the posts of Information Assistant and Exhibition Assistant. The posts were advertised under notification number 4 of 2013. At that time the Board had said that the posts would be filled under fast track method.
“The examination for these posts was held on November 22, 2015 and subsequently the candidates who qualified written were called for interviews on April 10, 2016. We were hoping that the selection list would be made public, but that was not to be and we were left in a state of shock,” said a group of candidates.
The candidates said that on May 24 the SSB uploaded notice on its website asking candidates to appear in aptitude test. The SSB notice virtually bamboozled the candidates who had qualified the written test and appeared in the interview.
“The candidates whose particulars are given at Annexure “A” & “B” are hereby informed that his/her aptitude test for writing features and translating English into Urdu, Hindi and vice versa for the post of Information Assistant/Exhibition Assistant, Divisional Cadre Kashmir, Advt. No.04 of 2013, Item No. 269 and Information Assistant, District Cadre Budgam, Advt. No.01 of 2015, Item No.037, shall be conducted on 5th of June-2017, at Central Office, Services Selection Board, Zum Zum Building, Ram Bagh, Srinagar, from10.30 a.m onwards,” reads the SSB notice.
The notice further said that the candidates are advised to bring Photostat copy of each certificate duly attested by Gazetted Officer with his/her seal and signature/Self signed by the candidates herself for depositing with the Board at the time of aptitude test in addition to original documents.
At the same time sources in SSB said that the selection list for the posts was complied some four months back. They said that the Information Department asked them to conduct the aptitude test afresh.
“The selection process for Information Assistant happens to be a two tier process, but the SSB is now making it a three tier process. This is a mockery in name of fast track recruitment. Besides the candidates who did not appear in interviews or were disqualified for not meeting eligibility criteria have also been called to appear in aptitude test,” said the candidates.
Joint Director Department of Information Abdul Majid Zargar told CNS that they have nothing to do with it as the recruiting people is the job of SSB only.
