SRINAGAR: The maiden trials of State Football Academy- first ever state owned football academy in Jammu and Kashmir- saw a massive response from the aspiring footballers to make the first day a huge success, a statement from the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council said Friday.
As many as 150 kids, the statement said, turned up for the first ever trails in their bid to be part of State Football Academy. The trails meant for the U -13 age group were overseen by the head coach of SFA Mehraj Ud Din Wadoo besides other certified coaches.
The football academy an initiative by the J&K State Sports Council is a set to start a full time professional academy imparting modern football among youth in various age groups spearheaded by Wadoo.
The trials continued for two days which will be followed by trails for the other age groups in days to come.
With the aim of changing the dynamics of the sport in the state, the academy is in process of identifying the best of the talents to be part of this venture. The academy will be registered with J&K Football Association, the statement said.
