SRINAGAR: The Government today constitutes a managing committee for affairs of Jammu & Kashmir Cooperative Supply & Marketing Federation Limited (JAKFED). An order to this effect was issued Secretary Cooperative Department here.
Accordingly, Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs shall be the chairperson of the Committee, while as Minister of State for Cooperatives, Forest, Environment & Ecology as Special Invitee and Munish Sharma Vice Chairperson JAKFED.
Whereas, Administrative Secretary Planning, Development & Monitoring Department, Administrative Secretary Finance Department, Administrative Secretary Cooperative Department and Registrar Cooperative Societies are members and Managing Director JAKFED as Member-Secretary of the Committee.
It was said that the managing committee will work for a period of three months or till elections to the said Apex Level Cooperative Federation from the share holders comprising Cooperative Marketing Societies, Cooperative Wholesale Stores, Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies and Primary Cooperative Consumer Stores, spread throughout the length and breadth of state of J&K is held.
Meanwhile, Managing Director J&K Cooperative Supply And Marketing Federation Ltd. has been asked to closely coordinate with Registrar J&K Cooperative Societies to complete the process of holding election to the Federation.
He said that the Department should explore the possibility for establishing more testing labs and fruit packaging units.He further directed the concerned for taking innovative and concrete measures for making all fruit related cooperative institutions functional.
He said that the government is committed to achieve the objectives to enhance the production and productivity of quality apple fruit crops in the State to compete in the national and international markets with highest employment opportunities in the sector.
Basharat Bukhari directed for encouraging and promoting concentrated Jam, jelly and apple juice produces and directed that the quality of the produce needs to be improved so that it so that can compete with the other States.
He stressed for proper grading, branding of the quality of the fruits and directed for organizing exhibitions in Srinagar, Jammu, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Calcutta, Chennai and Ahmedabad.
In order to manage the traffic system for trucks during the fruit season, the Minister directed for introduction of stickers for quick movement of the fruit which shall be displayed on wind screen of the trucks.
