SRINAGAR: Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, Abdul Rehman Veeri, today said that a participatory, responsive and responsible administration would realize the development goals of the Government.
The Minister was addressing a First ever one-day Revenue Conference in Kashmir at Institute of Advanced Studies in Education here.
Financial Commissioner Revenue Lokesh Jha, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmed Khan, Commissioner Survey & Land Records Shahid Inayatullah, besides Deputy Commissioners, ADCs, ACRs, SDMs and Tehsildars of Kashmir Division were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister asked the officers to ensure effective and efficient public delivery system. He said that Deputy Commissioners and Tehsildars have key role in ensuring proper functioning of other Departments as well.
He stressed the revenue officials to work in close coordination with other Departments for speedy land acquisition process to expedite execution of vital development projects. He also called for simplification and timely completion of land mutations.
Veeri further directed the officers to call for periodical review meetings of different departments for the better delivery of Public essentials at grass root level.
He said that the Government is contemplating to nominate one model Tehsil in every district of J&K wherein all modern facilities would be available for the public.
Sharing the motive behind conceiving the idea of organizing first ever historical conference on Revenue in Kashmir, the Minister said that his aim was transformation of knowledge about revenue matters from experienced old hands to the young officers.
Financial Commissioner Lokesh Jha, who also spoke on the occasion, asked the officers to speed up and update Jamabandi in their concerned areas. He also informed about the progress of digitization of land records in Jammu and Srinagar.
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir termed the Revenue Department as a backbone of the administration and stressed on implementation of Revenue laws in letter and Spirit.
The Conference was divided into two sessions-Technical session and Open Discussion session.
Earlier during the Technical session, Retired Revenue officers shared their experience and gave valuable suggestions to the young officers related to Revenue matters.
