Srinagar: Owais Shah and Shiraz Ahmad starred for their respective teams as Gousia XI Sheikhpora and FCC Falchil beat their opponents on Wednesday to make it to the last four stages of Budgam played at Shiekhpora playground, Budgam.
Owais showed his all-round prowess to help Gousia XI beat Zaina Kadal by six runs in the first quarter final of the day. Owais played a good hand as Gousia XI posted a decent 149 all out in the 19th over. Zaina Kadal made a good fist of the chase coming close to Gousia XIs total only to fall short by six runs. Umar was wrecker-n-chief for the bowling side taking three wickets. He was duly given man of the match award.
In the second quarter final of the day that proved to be a lopsided affair, FCC Falchil pummeled UCC by a huge margin of 81 runs.
Batting first FCC Falchil made a solid 153 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply UCC were never in the hunt in the chase, skittled out for a nothing 72 inside 12 overs, suffering a huge defeat. Shiraz was the protagonist of the super bowling effort snaring four UCC wickets. The easy win meant FCC Falchil became second team to make it to the semi-finals lineup.
Shiraz walked away with the man of the match award for his winning bowling spell.
The remaining two quarter finals are scheduled to be played on Thursday at the same venue.
