Srinagar: A CRPF jawan was injured when a gunman opened fire during an abortive bid to loot a bank in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, official sources said.
They said a group of two gunmen entered a bank branch near Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag office today. However, alert security forces challenged them and foiled the attempt.
Later a gunman opened fire injuring a CRPF jawan, they said adding the gunman was later overpowered while another managed to escape.
People ran for safety after the firing, they said adding normalcy returned after some time.
