SRINAGAR: – After spending over 12 years in jail, Mohammad Hussain Fazili, who was acquitted by the trial court in New Delhi on February 16, has joined Muslim Deeni Mahaz led by incarcerated Dr. Muhammad Qasim Faktoo.
The development came days after one of his jail mates, who was also acquitted with him, joined Geelani led Hurriyat.
Speaking to Kashmir Observer Fazli said, Yes, I have joined the Muslim Deeni Mahaz (MDM). I am inspired by Dr Sahibs (Dr. Muhammad Qasim Faktoo) scholarly pursuits as he is doing great work for propagation of Islam. So I have joined the organisation to do some service on religious front.
Fazili was one of the three Kashmiris acquitted by the court on February this year. He along with Muhammad Rafiq Shah and Tariq Ahmad Dar, were detained on charges on being part of the 2005 Delhi blasts that killed 67 people, however, it took the court more than a decade to prove their innocence.
Before his arrest, Fazli used to work as a shawl weaver in Srinagar and has continued with the same after spending 12 years in jail.
Confirming Fazlis joining the organisation General Secretary MDM Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, said, Yes, he was student of Doctor sahib, and has joined the organisation some days ago, he said.
