SRINAGAR: Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders were today forced to cancel their condolence visit to the house of slain party leader in Rohmoo area of Pulwama district following protests in the area ahead of their arrival.
Reports said that four PDP leaders, including a junior Minister and Member of Parliament, were today scheduled to visit house of Abdul Gani Dar, who was killed by unknown militants at Pulwama last week, and offer their condolence to the bereaved family.
As part of security arrangement, the security forces reached Rohmoo in advance and as people who were busy in their routine day-to-day activities saw security arrangements, they downed their shutters and assembled on roads, the reports said.
According to these reports some youth chanting pro-Azadi slogans also pelted stones on security forces but they exercised restraint and didnt use any kind of force.
Amid tense situation, the PDP leaders cancelled their visit to slain party leaders house.
