Srinagar: As the government is grappling with relenting student protests, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today met with teaching staff of Pulwama Government Degree College to seek factual details of the April 15 incident that led to widespread student protests across Kashmir.
The staff and incharge principal today met chief minister at her residence and apprised her of the details and facts that led to the protests and clashes in the college, sources told KNS.
The chief minister asked the teachers to resolve the academic and administrative issues of the students and regain their confidence by holding discussion and interactive sessions with them, sources said.
Mehbooba has also assured the staff that actions will be taken against those persons who assaulted the students. She told them that she has directed the security forces and police not to deploy their personnel near the colleges.
I have directed the security forces to remain 1 kilometer away for the educational institutes, sources quoted her saying to the teachers.
She also assured them that the infrastructure in the college will be upgraded and sought the details about pending development and infrastructure in the college. The CM told the teachers to focus on academics and career development of students.
