SRINAGAR: International Islamic School, Peerbagh, Srinagar had a reason to celebrate as its students managed to pocket five gold medals in the recently concluded Asian Sqay Championship held in Thailand.
According to the press statement from the school authorities, the students that struck gold included Aayat Alam, Anas Ishtaq, Noor-ul-Haya, Rabeeh Chisti and Mehnoor Bashir. It is for the first time, it said, that as many five gold medals were won by players from single school in an international event. It further added that thanks to the stellar show, the gold medalists were selected to represent India in the upcoming Junior World Squay Championship.
The management hoped for a winning show in the future as well and lauded the efforts of Salma, the mentor of the players.
The statement said that the school believed in providing world class education to students that also includes training the students in various sports activities under master trainers. The school stressed on balanced mental and physical development of students.
