Srinagar: Extending support to Kashmir Bandh call given by JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik, Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani has expressed concern over life imprisonment sentences awarded by a TADA court to two Kashmiri youth. He has said that the strike call was according to need and on proper time.
According to a statement issued here, Geelani appealed people to make the proposed strike call successful and to send the message that these life imprisonment sentences are intolerable. All under-trail Kashmiris will be awarded same sentences if silence is maintained over the issue. Dozens of Kashmiris have been awarded these sentences and this all is being done to break the movement and commitment of people, reads the statement.
Meanwhile, United jihad Council (UJC) Chief Syed Sallahudin has expressed anger over the life imprisonment awards accorded to Nazir Ahmad Shiekh and Farooq Ahmad by a TADA Court. He called these sentences being part of the Indian terrorism.
In a statement issued here, he said that these sentences themselves speak about the policies of suppression that India was committing against the people of Kashmir.
