SRINAGAR – Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Coporation (SMC) Dr G.N Qasba today visited various city areas to take stock of the corporations ongoing anti-polythene drive and demolition of identified illegal structures in the city.
The commissioner visited areas including Ali Masjid, Alijan Road, Soura, Anchar, Karan Nagar, Jehangir chowk and Amira Kadal, along with the senior officers of Corporation. Around four illegal structures were demolished by the Enforcement squad which had been already identified by the enforcement wing of the corporation, said an official spokesperson.
During the demolition drives Dr Qasba had session with the violators/offenders and asked them not to take up any construction in hand without applying for proper building permissions through Building permissions window of the Corporation, she added.
All the Encroachments from Karanagar to Amira kadal bridge were wiped off which has otherwise become nuisance and has choked the pedestrians space under the supervision of Commissioner SMC, the spokesperson added.
During the Encroachment drive Dr Qasba directed the Chief Enforcement officer Hakeem Aijaz to depute the officials in the most encroached areas besides keeping a tight vigil over the Amira Kadal Bridge. These men will carry out their duties from morning till evening so that the bridge remains free of encroachments.
Meanwhile the spokesperson said that the anti-polythene officer Mir Mansoor with the assistance of his squad seized around 20 kgs of banned polythene bags during the drive which was being personally monitored by Dr Qasba.
Dr. Qasba was accompanied by Joint Commissioner Planning Farzana Naqshbandi, Chief Enforcement Officer Hakeem Aijaz, Chief Sanitation Officer Manzoor Ahmed Turray along with the Enforcement wing and the Ward Officers.
