Anantnag: The mysterious death of a woman at her in-laws house sparked protest in South Kashmirs Anantnag district, prompting police to arrest her husband.
Large number of people assembled outside DC office Anantnag and staged a protest against the mysterious death of a woman at her in-laws house at Nandpora Khanabal.
Firdousa Akhtar daughter of Abdul Gani Deva, a resident of SK Colony Anantnag was married to a man at Nandpora Khanabal, while according to protesters the husband and the in-laws were harassing her by demanding dowry.
We were shocked to hear the news of her death. She was not sick and we smell foul play and registered a case, but police didnt act, protesters said.
The protesters demanded immediate arrest of the husband and other members of the family.
Station House Officer, Police Station Saddar, Ayaz Geelani said an FIR vide number 59/2017 under section 498A has already been registered and the husband of the deceased woman has been arrested. We are investigating the matter and waiting for the postmortem report, he said.
