SRINAGAR: A women from Downtown Srinagar allegedly set herself ablaze at Hill Pathri, Gund area of Kangan in district Ganderbal on Thursday afternoon.
The woman identified as Zamrooda Banoo was later admitted in the SKIMS Soura where she was battling for her life.
Zamrooda has sustained more than 95 percent burn injuries.
Zamrooda, wife of Shabir Ahmed Khan, a resident of Rajouri Kadal in Srinagar, travelled to Kangan, at least 25 kilometres from her residence, and set herself ablaze there.
According to reports Zamrooda, who originally hails from Srigufwara, Anantnag, had a dispute with her husband since last one year and they used to quarrel frequently.
Police official said that, Zamrooda had a dispute with her husband that led her to take the extreme step.
In this regard police station Kangan has registered a case and investigation has been started.
