Srinagar: A speeding CRPF vehicle Friday evening crushed a passerby civilian to death and injured two others seriously in Brein, Nishat, sparking angry protests in the area.
According to reports, pedestrian Showkat Ahmad of Brein died on the spot and other two were battling for their lives in a city hospital.
Eyewitnesses said that a vehicle carrying CRPF personnel for poll duty was soon gheraod by the angry residents forcing them to flee the spot .
Protesters torched the vehicle and blocked the road. They were raising anti-CRPF slogans and demanding justice by arresting the driver.
SHO Nishat Mohammad Anwar Khan confirmed that one person has died in the accident.
The situation in area was tense when this report was filed late Friday night.
