Srinagar: A Power Development Department Lineman in Baramulla Friday was electrocuted and doctors have advised amputation of both of his arms.
Tahir Ahmad Malik, 45, and father of four children, has received a severe shock while repairing a damaged electric transformer in a village in Narwaw belt in Baramulla district.
His brother-in-law, Showkat Ali Mir said that they rushed Malik to SKIMS, Srinagar, where doctors operated on him and is presently in Intensive Care Unit of plastic surgery ward.
Mir said that Malik got a severe shock in both his arms, which got burnt, and his right leg also got affected due to the shock.
Doctors are treating him well. But they said that if the condition does not improve, his arms need to be amputated, he said over phone from SKIMS.
He said that the department officials of the area including Senior Engineer and Executive Engineer visited the injured employee at SKIMS and assured all help to him. (KNS)
