SRINAGAR: Jammu University playground Friday witnessed pandemonium after Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists stopped the soccer game between Jammu University and Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) accusing the latter of not standing up when national anthem was being played.
IUST students are in Jammu to take part in the State University Championship- an event in which almost all universities of the state are competing against each in the various sports event.
Friday incident has put a question mark on the security of Kashmir based teams as ABVP activists had a final say stopping the game much to the disappointment of IUST students.
The summit clash between IUST and Jammu University couldnt proceed after ABVP activities made their way into the playing area, bringing a sad end what has been a fairly good tournament.
The IUST student alleged that ABVP activists-sporting their organizations flags, warned them of dire consequences for disrespecting national anthem.
If you want to live here, sing vande matram, shouted the ABVP activists. We were scared to hell. Authorities didnt do anything to stop the ABVP activists from creating a scene at the ground, a group of students said.
