Jammu, : Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police S P Vaid Saturday felicitated Selection Grade Constable Rajesh Kumar of J&K Security Wing for his courage and presence of mind shown in capturing one of the assailants involved in weapon snatching from a police official on March 25.
The incident took place late evening at Tawi bridge near Mandir-Masjid Point, when the assailant along with his two associates, assaulted, injured a police constable Mohammad Hanief and snatched his service rifle.
The courageous cop of JKAP 4th security Battalion Rajesh, who was returning from duty to Security Lines passed through and found his counterpart crying. He noticed a boy in suspicious circumstances, who was trying to hide himself and immediately overpowered him. Later, he was found involved in the incident.
Recognising the courage of the constable, Dr Vaid rewarded him with cash and commendation certificate at police headquarters here.
He lauded the act of the constable, saying that his timely action and presence of mind led to the arrest of other two assailants, solving the case within short time.
“Such act of courage and fearlessness by the constable is exemplary, which would inspire other personnel in the force,” said Dr Vaid.
