SRINAGAR: J&K Police on Wednesday foiled AIPs proposed Gharao march to CM residence at Gupkar and protestors who tried to assemble were dispersed by police and were not allowed to assemble near Gupkar, a party statement said.
However, breaking police restrictions dozens of protestors, lead by AIP chief and MLA Langate, Er Rashid started march from party office Jawahar Nagar towards Gupkar, the statement said.
Carrying placards in their hands, protesters were chanting slogans against state terrorism and killing of three innocents at Chadoora.
After travelling some distance, heavy contingent of police led by SP South stopped the protestors, the statement said.
As per the statement police thrashed and dragged many including MLA Rashid. Many protestors including Rasheed, party spokesperson Inam-un-Nabi; District President Kulgam, Dr Bari Nayak and activist Syed Aijaz Kashani were arrested and detained in police station Rajbagh, the statement added.
