Pulwama: The father of slain Hizbul Mujhadeen militant Naseer Ahmed Pandit has clarified that they are in no way related to surrendered militant Tariq Ahmed Pandit.
Slain militant Naseer Ahmed Pandit, a resident of Karimabad village of Pulwama who had decamped with two AK rifles on March 27, 2015 from the residence of PDP Minister Altaf Bukhari’s residence was subsequently killed in and encounter in Shopian district in April 2016 along with one of his associates Waseem Ahmed Malla.
Ghulam Rasool Pandit, the father of Naseer Pandit told CNS that: due to suffix (Pandit) in names, his slain son Naseer Ahamed Pandit is wrongly believed to be related to Tariq Ahmed Pandit who after forsaking Hizbul Mujahideen group is invisible on ground. We want to clear this wrong notion that my slain son Naseer Ahmed Pandit bears no relationship with Tariq Ahmed Pandit, neither by blood nor by conviction. More than five thousand souls live in our Karimabad village of Pulwama district and about sixty of its inhabitants carry Pandit as caste. So merely connecting us with Tariq Ahmed Pandit on the basis of caste is superficial and unjustified, he said.
Pertinently, Tariq Ahmed Pandit according to police was arrested during a nocturnal raid, however, media reports suggested that he had allegedly surrendered before the Army. Tariq Ahmed Pandit is presently languishing in jail. (CNS)
