Srinagar: Ahead of call given by ‘United Resistance Leadership’ for peaceful protests, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ayaz Akbar, Mohamad Ashraf Laya & Omer Adil Dar were Monday arrested and lodged either in jail or police stations.
Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani condemned the detention of resistance leaders and said that it is extremely unwise to deny political space and muzzle genuine voices. Blaming ruling elite for creating chaos in state, Syed Ali Geelani said that people reserve right to resent these arbitrary measures.
Syed Ali Geelani said that people are being detained and there seems no let-up in killing and harassment of civilians in state. Geelani expressed his serious concern over fresh arrest spree, harassment of peaceful civilians and humiliation during night raids and crackdowns. While blaming authorities for evolving explosive situations in state and high handedness against peaceful citizens, said that police in night raids are ransacking properties and humiliating inmates.
Geelani said that resistance leadership had decided to protest state sponsored cold-hearted actions, however authorities since Sunday night raided houses of resistance leadership and detained dozens of pro- freedom leaders while as scores were placed under house arrest.
Lashing at authorities for vandalism, Geelani said that authorities repeatedly arrest leaders and activists ahead of these protests demonstrations and said that since PDP led coition came into existence in state, they imposed undue restrictions on all political activities.
Geelani said that these unlawful and unethical restriction will prove counterproductive and our youth get alienated from peaceful political activities. There exists no option other than to consider other options to give vent to their sentiments. This evolved an explosive situation and there is increasing tendency in human causalities, said Geelani.
Our youth have a reason & motive to resent all this and there is no fun to sacrifices ones precocious life without a motive, said Geelani. Nobody is in position to stop this as it is normal reaction against tyranny and brute behaviour of occupying forces, said Geelani.
Syed Ali Geelani expressed his anguish over the increasing chaotic situation in state and said that Indian politicians and their henchmen in state are responsible for bloodshed.
India follows its egoistic policy and runs its writ through the barrel of gun & its military might and however it has neither worked in past nor it will deliver any good in future, said Geelani.
They have plugged their ears, while referring to ruling class, said Geelani. While referring to peoples uprising in 2008,2010 & 2016, said that they have turned their blind eye towards the agonies, people of state are facing. Geelani said that Delhi groomed agents never attempted to consider the basic problem, however illustrated military might & chocked their voice and resorted to killings and detaining people.
Geelani suggested rulers in Delhi to read writing on wall and instead of resorting to military might, try to find that Kashmir is a political issue and needs sincere steps for its peaceful settlement.
Geelani while referring to egoistic approach of Indian politicians, said that it has multiplied problems and said that instead of taking peaceful steps for its resolution, they are demonstrating their stubborn attitude. A negative implication is quite evident and has multiplied problems for people in India too, said Geelani.
