Pattan: The lone Paediatrician (child specialist) at Sub-District Hospital Pattan in North Kashmir is absconding from past several months, while despite bringing the issue into the notice of higher authorities, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir didnt bother to depute a Paediatrician in the said hospital.
In absence of the child specialist doctor in the hospital, the families take their ailing neonates in Srinagar hospitals for treatment. Block Medical Officer Pattan Dr Manzoor Hakim confirmed to CNS that Paediatrician Dr Adil is absconding and this has added to the woes of attendants of the child patients. We dont know where the doctor is? He is not in our contact and we had in fact written to Director Health Services about it, he said.
The attendants alleged that from past many months, the hospital authorities have been giving them false assurances that a Paediatrician will be posted in the hospital. Our ailing children have been suffering due to callous attitude of the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, they said.
As usual Director Health Services Kashmir didnt bother to pick up the phone while Commissioner Secretary to Health said that he will look into the matter. (CNS)
