Budgam: A youth was injured during massive clashes that erupted at Qazipora Chak village of Budgam district after government forces launched a search and cordon operation to nab the militants.
Official sources said that government forces on Monday afternoon launched a cordon and search operation at Qazipora Chak following inputs about the presence of suspected militants believed to be behind the killing of a former Sarpanch of Kakapora.
As the searches were underway, large number of locals mostly youth came out of their houses and started heavy stone pelting on forces ensuing clashes between the two sides. Police fired dozens of teargas shells to disperse the protesters disrupting anti-militant operation.
Sources said one youth namely Shahid Magrey was injured after he was hit by a teargas shell in his head. The injured youth was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment. The clashes at Qazipora continued till late hours and the situation in the village and adjacent areas was tense
