SRINAGAR: In response to the Jammu and Kashmir Police Chiefs remarks asking militants not to drag families of cops into the conflict and instead face the armed forces on ground, umbrella of local militant outfits, United Jihad Council (UJC), on Thursday said, militants have been telling the same from day one while the Director General of Police Dr SP Vaid has understood this now.
Spokesperson of the UJC, Syed Sadaqat Hussain in a statement issued to local news gathering agency – CNS said, the DGPs remarks prove the old age adage correct: pot calls the kettle black.
Police Chief tries to give an impression as police is the group of saints. A little introspection will reveal how Police Task Force let loose a reign of terror and inflicted torture and miseries not only upon the family members and neighbours of militants but also targeted innocent people, the UJC said.
Hussain further said, Indian security agencies are using police as scapegoat for their interests. We hope Jammu Kashmir Police will introspect and will not become a tool for India. How long some of the men in police will sell their conscious for their masters. Struggle will continue till it is taken to logical conclusion.
Hurriyat Recalls Crackdown During 2016 Uprising
All Parties Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani on Thursday termed the statement of DG police, Dr S P Vaid, as an apparent threat against unarmed civilians.
Terming the DGPs statement as irresponsible, the Hurriyat Conference said, it illustrates their ill will and obviously proves their sponsored terrorism against peaceful civilians.
DGP Vaid had said that militants should not drag families of cops in to conflict rather they should face cops on ground face to face.
For last 28 years, the pro-freedom activists, families and their relatives are prime target for government forces, said the octogenarian Hurriyat Conference chief led pro-freedom group, however, today official statement of DG (police) proved that in a police state, no rule of law exist.
The Hurriyat Conference observed, a high-ranking authority confirmed our claim.
It is unjustified to involve families of confronting forces and blamed government forces for the brutalities against families of pro-freedom activists. It is sheer highhandedness that for no reason they are making innocents as their soft target, APHC said.
This is very unfortunate and disgusting that government forces while resorting to lawlessness raid and arrest the relatives of these activists. During this the government forces ransack their properties and there are sufficient instances when many of those arrested were even assassinated.
The Hurriyat Conference spokesperson while reminding DG police about the killing of brother of Burhan Wani asked him to explain why he was killed and what was his crime?
Can any sane person justify this killing, asked the Hurriyat Conference amalgam adding, there are many more such gory instances on record about innocents, fell to bullets. Even political activists were made target by government forces and their relatives and families were subjected to vengeance.
Hurriyat while referring to peoples uprising in 2016 said, it is on record that during raids, brother was arrested for brother and son for father and later slapped PSA. Law enforcing executives blindly and randomly subject the families of innocent and peace loving citizens to reprisal and sharp cleavers of PSA and other draconian laws against them. Their relatives were thrashed, properties ransacked and even were seized by government forces.
We have detailed reports about the properties that were sealed and seized by government forces during peoples uprising, the statement added.
Giving details, the Hurriyat Conference said, police arrested two sons of Gh Mohamad Tantray (Behrampora) while as relatives of Ab Rehman Tantray, (Baramulla) Master Ali Mohammad (Hajan) Ab Rashid (Nowshehra) Ab Subhan Wani, Showkat Ahmad Dar (Kulgam) Mohammad Amin Ahangar (Shopian) and Ab Gani Bhat (Sopore) were arrested slapped PSA and lodged in detention centres.
The Hurriyat Conference while referring to the DGPs statement said, it is proper that we should not get families into this confrontation and it is also obligatory for police to act over this and let them make a point that dont drag those persons who are not directly involved in any political or militant activities.
