SRINAGAR: On the third consecutive day, the intermittent snowfall on Thursday continued in higher reaches of the Valley while the weather remained cloudy in plains throughout the day.
However, the 300 km long Srinagar-Jammu highway continued to remain closed for the second consecutive day today. The highway was closed by the authorities on Tuesday evening following the slippery conditions of roads in Ramban.
Meanwhile, an official in the Meteorological (MeT) department told KNS that the wet weather would continue for more two days across the state. We are expecting light to moderate rains in the next 48 hours in plains and higher reaches as well, the MeT official said.
He said that the weather would likely improve from Sunday morning.
An official in the traffic department said that the road clearance work that was started to restore the vehicular movement on the highway got stopped due to the continuous shooting stones at Digdol today.
The road clearance will start again and the stranded vehicles on the either sides would be allowed first to ply, he said.
Pertinently, the weatherman had predicted four days of wet spell across the state and had predicted snowfall in higher reaches including Ladakh.
