Everything You’ve Told The Youth Is A Lie: NC To Mehbooba

SRINAGAR: National Conference on Wednesday said that everything that Mehbooba Mufti “had promised to the youth of the State so far had turned out to be a lie” and that her recent promise of jobs to the youth in lieu of their support was yet another “hollow statement aimed at misleading” the youth of the State and exploiting them to reap political dividends.

National Conference State Spokesperson, Junaid Azim Mattu, said, “on one hand Mehbooba Mufti’s Finance Minister says all government employees are liabilities and that he won’t create any further jobs and on the other hand she is herself offering jobs to exploit our youth.”

“Every word Mehbooba Mufti has said since 2014, starting with stopping the march of BJP to ensuring flood relief and rehabilitation has proven to be a lie and she will continue lying to them. The same youth who are being asked to support her in order to get Government jobs had been promised that PDP would stop the march of BJP if the youth voted it into power. The same young men and women were promised that they would get much better flood relief and compensation than the package conceived and proposed by the previous Government. Every single promise has been broken effortlessly,” the NC State Spokesperson said in a party statement.

The NC Spokesperson also cautioned Mehbooba Mufti against portraying the political issue and unrest in Kashmir as a manifestation of unemployment. “The issue in Kashmir is not economic but political in nature. Doling out jobs to seek political support and favour will not change the political challenges and realities of the State. Rather than unequivocally telling New Delhi that the issue in Kashmir is political and not about jobs, doles, packages or money – she has shockingly yet again distorted the ground reality and provided New Delhi with an excuse to turn a blind eye towards what is happening in Kashmir. Nothing could be more tragic coming from a person who sought votes on the political plank and promised that the resolution of the political issue would be her party’s foremost priority”, the NC Spokesperson added in the statement.

“While Mehbooba Mufti was promising jobs to the youth who attended her meeting, the Police – headed by a Ministry in her charge – was busy baton-charging and chasing protesting NHM employees seeking pay-parity and regularization after years of dedicated and specialized service. Could anything be more ironic? How can promises of jobs and batons for employees seeking justice go hand-in-hand? One understands Mehbooba Ji’s penchant for U-turns and hollow promises but now that she is the Chief Minister of the State – she should try to uphold the integrity and dignity of her office by not misleading the people in such a brazen manner,” the NC Spokesperson further said.

The NC Spokesperson also accused PDP of “promoting a culture of backdoor appointments” in departments under its control and misusing Central Funds and Schemes to benefit its own workers and activists. “A Chief Minister who is responsible for patronizing a culture of backdoor appointments should not talk about jobs for the unemployed youth of the State. The number of backdoor appointments is shocking as certain bureaucrats have sidelined their obligation to the State and its people and are openly acting as PDP agents. A party that is depriving merit-holders and deserving candidates of jobs that they deserve shouldn’t talk about employment for the unemployed. It’s shameful,” the NC Spokesperson further added.

For Peace, India Must Shun Egoistic Approach: APHC

All parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) led by Syed Ali Geelani while ridiculing the statement of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, wherein she claimed to provide employment to youth provided they maintain peace, said, “present disturbances and turmoil is the outcome of forced occupation of India.” “For prevalence of peaceful situation, India must shun its egoistic approach,” the Hurriyat Conference said in a statement on Wednesday.

Blaming India for “its tenacious attitude”, the Hurriyat Conference said, “forced occupation is the basic reason for uncertainty in state.”While criticising Mehbooba Mufti, the pro-freedom group said, “despotic rule and forced occupation is the root cause of destruction and devastation in the state.”

While taking dig at Mehbooba Mufti, the Geelani Hurriyat Conference said, “people of state are in dire need of peace, however, her rhetoric about peace and tranquillity is just a political gimmick.”

“Continuous gloomy and standstill situation in state is taking heavy toll and people are facing the immense difficulties, hence are more in need of peace. Despite people yearning for peace, they feel helpless as it is the forced occupation that has rendered them as stranded spectator and face dejection,” the Hurriyat Conference observed.

While criticising the PDP president, the Hurriyat Conference said that Kashmir is a political and an issue related to human society and said that “it is not an issue of employment and development”.

“Indian rulers need to comprehend the issue as they seem to be hell-bent to muzzle the genuine aspirations of people through barrel of the gun,” it added.

However, Hurriyat Conference asked Indian authorities “to shun their egoistic approach and reiterated that we are not against parleys, however, India has to accept the ground realities about Kashmir issue”. “Unless the real aspects of Kashmir issue are recognised and accepted, no viable solution to dispute is possible.”

Commenting over the “past events and practice”, the Hurriyat Conference further said, “for past seven decades the parties to the dispute convened 150 rounds of talks but of no avail as genuine aspiration of people were never addressed.”

RSD Only Package Acceptable: DeM

Chairperson of Dukhataran-e-Millat, Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi, on Wednesday said that the “only package acceptable” to the people Kashmiris from Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is the right to self-determination “which India has been denying them for the past 70 years”.

Andrabi, according to a statement, was referring to the chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti’s statement wherein she had said that “she will bring Narendra Modi here and will make him announce ‘development’ package for Kashmir”.

“We don’t have any issue if Mehbooba brings Modi here, she has personal relationship with him but claiming that she will make him announce packages for Kashmir is nothing but deception. The only package that conscious Kashmiris will accept from India is their right to self-determine their future as is promised by the UN and the other world bodies,” she said.

“Mehbooba and the Indian government must know that our youth rejected top jobs and joined the Jihad. Do you call this violence, our Mujahideen picked up gun to combat the violence that Indian brutal forces have unleashed across Kashmir. These children have picked the gun for their right which has been denied to them. In reality, these Mujahideen have chose the path of opposing the oppressor to make peace in the Valley which is possible only when India leaves us,” she added. 

Andrabi while terming the “youth convention” held by PDP a “farce”, she said, “the people present at the meeting were SPOs and the casual labourers bundled from various places.”

“Actually, this woman is exploiting the poverty of these youth by making false promises,” she alleged.

“Give me peace and I will give you jobs and development statement was nothing but a cruel joke. While one acknowledges the fact that violence is detrimental to Kashmir and its people, Mehbooba needs to be asked who is perpetuating the violence in the streets of Kashmir. It is the occupational forces and the terrorist state who are killing, blinding and spilling the blood of our people in every nook and corner of the Valley,” Andrabi said.

“Not us but India, its rogue and terrorist state machinery which is responsible for the violence and the bloodshed here,” she said. Rather than giving Kashmiris lectures about non-violence, this woman (Mehbooba) must shun the path of violence and must stop killing Kashmiri children.”

“I have never seen a shameless and cunning person like this woman. When she is out of power she holds the photographs of our martyrs and seeks justice for them and when in power, uses all means of coercion against the innocent Kashmiris. Doesn’t she know who is killing 10-year-old boys, who is blinding everyone with pellets and who uses brutal means to muzzle the voices of Kashmiris?” Andrabi questioned.

“The only way to peace in Kashmir is that India ends its illegal occupation and gives Kashmiris their right to self-determination,” she added.
