Srinagar: The slackness on the part of Assistant Labour Commissioner Department Budgam in Central Kashmir can be gauged by the fact that thousands of financial assistance cases of widows, labourers, orphans, and others are lying pending for clearance for the last three years.
Sources said that thousands of financial assistance cases including death compensation cases, marriage assistance cases, and scholarship cases etc. of the wards of the workers have not been processed and cleared by the Boards for the last three years.
The claimants alleged that the Assistant Commissioner Labour Budgam does not show any interest to process the cases of financial assistance for the unknown reason thereby causing mental harassment to them who are in dire need of financial backup for welfare of their families. They further said that thousands of such cases have piled up in Budgam district despite availability of money in Departments kitty received from both State and Central Government.
Bilal Maqbool, carpenter from the district said that he has been visiting the Assistant Labour Commissioners Office from past two years but no official show any interest in settling his case related to marriage assistance.
“Among all kind of financial cases, the death compensation cases have the maximum pendency which have not been cleared for years together by the Department. Moreover, the scholarship cases of children of labour class have not been cleared due to which the studies of the children of the workers got adversely affected due to insensitivity and callous attitude of the Department,” the claimants alleged.
An official from Assistant Labour Commissioner Office said that due to shortage of man power, they are unable to clear the cases in time. (CNS)
