Srinagar: AK Mital, Chairman Railway Board & R.K. Kulshrestha, General Manager Northern Railway visited J&K to review progress of ongoing works on Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project.
Both officers visited USBRL project to hold works review meeting on project.
CRB reached Katra on Friday and after preliminary deliberations with Chief Administrative Officer/USBRL, held a detailed review meeting at Patnitop (Udampur district).
The meeting was attended by CAO/USBRL along with his HODs, CMD/Konkan Railway Corp. Ltd. with his team of officers, CMD/Indian Railway Construction Company Ltd. with his team of officers and Addl Divisional Railway Manager/Jammu Tawi.
The CAO/USBRL gave a detailed presentation of ongoing works of tunnels and bridges on project. CAO/USBRL mentioned that USBRL is the most challenging and daunting project undertaken post independence.
In last one year, all major contracts of tunnels and bridges have been finalised. He further apprised that the issue of construction of mega bridge across Anji river has been resolved and all contracts of detailed design and construction have been awarded. He further elaborated that Anji Bridge is being constructed as Cable Stayed Bridge and will be a major engineering marvel of the world. During the course of presentations, CRB reviewed the progress of work of each and every tunnel and Bridge and held detailed deliberations with CMD/IRCON and CMD/KRCL.
While appreciating the good work done in last one year, CRB instructed CMD/IRCON and CMD/KRCL that ongoing works of tunnels and Bridges should be monitored closely and should be completed well within defined targets.
