SRINAGAR: A day after National Conference patron eulogised militants for fighting freedom struggle in Kashmir, ruling PDP on Saturday said, such U-turns and changing political colours by the NC has sown seeds of alienation and violence in the State, particularly in Kashmir.
PDP spokesperson and minister, Naeem Akhtar, told a local news gathering agency that, NC has been changing its colours season after season which has cost Kashmir heavily.
Because of U-turns of NC since 1931, Kashmir has reached today to such circumstances. In 1947 Sheikh Abdullah was a votary of accession, in 1953 he launched Plebiscite Front and sowed the seeds of alienation in Kashmir, the result of which we are reaping today…..Sheikh nurtured separatism for 22 years and then called it political waywardness. And then he could not achieve what he lost in 1953, Naeem said.
Farooq Abdullah continues these U-turns even today. Someday he would say bomb Pakistan, jail Hurriyat leaders till they rot, catch and kill. Then he started Task Force and Ikhwan in 90s that alienated people further and incurred huge losses to civilian life, he added.
Naeem said that the statement made by Farooq Abdullah is in keeping the electoral exercise which is at hand.
Because He Has Lost Power…
Branding National Conference President Farooq Abdullah an opportunist for criticising BJP-PDP coalition, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said the former has changed his tone because he has lost the power.
This is wrong. Just because he is out of power he has changed his tone and tune. Farooq Abdullah says people are unhappy because Mufti Mohammad Sayeed party PDP has joined hands with communal elements. You joined hands with BJP and became chief minister during Atal Bihari Vajpaye period. So BJP was secular when you joined hands with us and make you and your son the chief minister. Now Mufti and his daughter became chief minister then it becomes communal, Union Minister for Information and broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu told reporters in New Delhi.
Omar Never Owned Farooqs Appeasement: Rasheed
Independent lawmaker representing Langate assembly segment, Er Rasheed said that Dr Farooq Abdullahs confession about youth taking to arms is nothing new, as everybody knows Kashmiris took to arms for right of self determination.
Farooq Abdullah owes an explanation to people of the state that why it took him 27 years to admit that Kashmiris had taken to arms for Right to self determination, Rasheed said in a statement.
We will still appreciate if he sides himself with the true genuine sentiments of Kashmiris and give up his hollow slogan of restoring autonomy and will taken a pledge to fight for right to self determination. However, the records reveal that whatsoever Farooq Abdullah has said in the past, neither he has shown any consistency, nor has Omar Abdullah owned what Farooq has tried to appease Kashmiris from time to time, Rasheed added.
Hitting out at Abdullah for his opportunistic and double talk, Naidu further said the former has been thoroughly exposed.
Abdullah yesterday slammed Jammu and Kashmirs Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for allying with BJP while saying that people would not tolerate it as late chief minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed had promised that they would not side with communal forces.
People of the valley are disgruntled with state government allying with communal forces, Abdullah said while addressing workers at the Nawa-e-Subh party headquarters in Srinagar.
