BANDIPORA: The Bandipora to Srinagar road is in shambles since long time in North Kashmir. The residents are aghast due to the dilapidated conditions of the road despite several representations to the authorities and media the condition of the road.
Ironically the Bandipora to Srinagar road has been in dilapidated conditions since long causing great inconvenience to the locals. The Government according to the residents is in deep slumber.
The 30 Km long Bandipora to Sumbal road has been in dilapidated condition since long but the successive Govt has shown a lackadaisical attitude to repair this road to facilitate vehicular Movement.
Residents said that the road has developed ditches, potholes at many spots rendering commuters to suffer, especially patients and pregnant women.
They said that the students and office goers are the worst sufferers as they have to travel every day through this dilapidated road.
The residents accused government authorities for apathy towards the inhabitants. They said that during the bad weather conditions, the road turns more dangerous for the commuters.
We have taken up the matter with higher ups several times and even registered a formal complaint but our requests have met deaf ears, said residents of Nusoo Bandipora.
The passenger vehicles have suffered damages due to bad condition of the roads. Our vehicles have got heavy damages due to dilapidated condition of the road, a Sumo driver said.
The road is totally in dilapidated Condition since long time, but the authorities have failed to even pay a visit to ascertain the damages of this road said another local, said a group of locals from Plan Bandipora.
The locals have urged the government to repair the road at an earliest to ease out the inconvenience face by the people.
Meanwhile, Youngsters of Bandipora have now started online protest campaign under hashtag #BetterRoadsForBandipora.
This campaign has received good response on the social networking sites. Many of the comments raised and tagged the issue with the new &B Ministry Naeem Akhter. They expressed hope that the road may get some attention from Akhtar
When contacted MLA Bandipora Usman Majid, said that the road will be macadamized this year. Usman Majid said that the road was supposed to be completed in 2016 but unfortunately due to the unrest and shutdowns last year the project remains pending adding that this year the road will be fully macadamized.
