Mirwaiz didnt accompany his wife when she was driven to the hospital in an emergency state at 10 pm on Friday.
She went through an emergency operation by Dr Farhat Jabeen weeks ahead of the due date, hospital sources said. As Mirwaiz came to know about the development, he immediately drove to the upmarket Modern Hospital to see his wife and the baby.
In 2002 Mirwaiz Umar Farooq married Sheeba Masoodi, the youngest daughter of Sibtain Masoodi, a Kashmiri doctor who left the Valley in the 1970s and settled in Buffalo in the US. Masoodi has three daughters and a son. Sheba was born in the mid-70s in the US. The family has a house in Barzulla locality of Kashmir and occasionally visits the Valley.
Mirwaizs first daughter Maryam was born in 2009, almost seven years after their marriage. In 2011, Zainab was born.
Shahid said the boy has not been named yet.
