Anantnag: An officer of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) in Dooru area of Anantnag district has been accused of illegally appointing an Anganwari worker.
Shameema Akhtar, who is posted as Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) in Dooru Anantnag, is accused of illegally appointing an Anganwari worker Saby Jan, d/o Late Fayaz Ahmad Ganie of Gee Boon village of Kokernag.
The matter came to fore after an applicant filed RTI, which revealed that the appointment was made illegally without presenting Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) in the Anganwari Centre, located in Boon Malla Mohalla in Tehsil Dooru.
RTI has revealed that the advertisement dated 31/10/2014 mentioned that the candidates should be permanent resident of Jammu and Kashmir and shall belong to Mohalla for which the Anganwari centre stands sanctioned. But the selected candidate has failed to provide the PRC of said Mohalla.
Subsequently, the Dooru Magistrate wrote a letter to Deputy Commissioner Anantnag under letter No SDM/D/2016/275, dated 8/11/2016 in which he mentioned that Saby Jan, daughter of Late Fayaz Ahmad Ganie, who has been provisionally engaged as Anganwari worker against the vacancy at Boon Malla Mohalla is not the resident of the said Mohalla and is actually resident of Gee Boom village of Tehsil Kokernag as reported by Tehsildar concerned vide his office No: 487/MM/ang, dated 16/02/2015.
The appointed Anganwari worker could not produce any relevant document which could substantiate her being a resident of the said locality (Boon Malla Mohalla) for which post was advertised.
We applied for this post as we were eligible for it but CDPO Dooru refused to accept our documents, said an applicant adding, We couldnt understand how a candidate from other area was selected for the post.
CDPO Dooru could not be contacted for her version for her cell phone was switched off.
Talking to Kashmir Observer, Programming Officer, ICDS Anantnag, Mohammad Ashraf said that since he has joined office recently, so he doesnt have any information about it.
He assured that if the said officer is proven guilty, she will not go unpunished.
