Bandipora: A six-year-old boy was killed by a speeding vehicle in north Kashmir district of Bandipora this morning, official sources said.
The incident took place at Kanibathi in Bandipora where Abid Mushtaq was hit and critically injured by a speeding vehicle.
He was immediately taken to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead.
As the news of the death spread, instantaneous protests erupted at Kanibathi and adjoining areas.
Raising anti-administration slogans, the protestors blocked Sopore-Bandipora road.
The protests alleged that they had already requested the administration to get a speed breaker constructed as the vehicles ply on a very high speed on the road. “We had already anticipated that such incident was going to happen sooner or later. So we had requested the administration to install a speed breaker on the road, but nothing was done,” the protestors told UNI.
