SRINAGAR: The trade bodies of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday urged government to roll back tax on Semi-Stitched garments with immediate effect.
In a joint statement issued today, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI&I) and of Jammu Commerce & Industry (JCCI), however, welcomed the remission of 100% penalty and interest on the arrears of VAT.
But, the statement added, levy of tax on Semi-Stitched garments is unwarranted/undesirable as the same is not applicable anywhere in the Country.
Such tax is intolerable, the KCC&I statement insisted, and The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Inc) along with the Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Regd) would urge the Honble Finance Minister, J&K to roll back the said tax on Semi-Stitched garments with immediate effect.
