Srinagar: Government run SMHS hospital here in Srinagar has less parking space but more vehicular movement from dawn to dusk, the issue of less parking space here have been several times discussed among hospital administration but perhaps it felt deaf ears, said SMHS parking union head Mehraj Din.
The vehicle occupy the space which is important for Ambulances and emergency vehicles, though having 9 people on job who are supposed to manage the traffic mess in front of emergency gate of SMHS Hospital, all those people who manage the mess said that We cant blame drivers who park in front of emergency gate, because we know the reality of less space being available in the SMHS Hospital yard.
Mehraj Din said, SMHS hospital seriously needs enough space so it can cater to vehicular. Administration needs to expand the parking slot and if they cant do it, SMHS hospital should be relocated to other place rather to keeps its yard filling with irregular jam.
He further said that he has several times discussed the issue with administration but they hardly pay any attention even I discussed it personally with the principal.
Farooq Ahmad, a patient said that almost all parking slots happen to be across the way, from main gate to the emergency ward or OPD.
The first parking slot is in front of the main exit gate that has been locked. Therefore all vehicles, attendants and hospital staff suffer a lot, the patients said.
