Jammu: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar, on Thursday said the learning process should be made easier and enjoyable for the students and the teachers as well.
The Minister was speaking during the valedictory programme of five day training workshop for DIET principals and lecturers organized by the Centre for the Teacher Resource and Academic Support, School of Education, Central University Jammu, under PMMMNMT in collaboration with National Centre for School Leadership, Department of School and Non-Formal Education, NUEPA at Central University Jammu.
The objective of the workshop was to enable DIET principals critically examine their leadership roles in transforming teacher education in general and school education in particular besides building knowledge, skills and attitude required for transforming schools through leadership.
Stressing on the need for bringing changes in the teaching process as per trends of the present times, the Minister called upon the teachers to work out new teaching trends to enable the students meet the present world requirements. He urged upon the teachers to help the students in de-walling their minds to create level of openness which is must for bringing change in the learning process.
Teacher training need to be focused as per the requirement of present times and training programmes should be made accordingly. The concept of learning should be made clear and easier for the students with inclusion of innovative ideas related to technological advancements and other easy but effective ways on regular basis.
The focus of the training programme for teachers is aimed at improving their pedagogical skills and exposes them to modern trends of classroom management so that the quality of classroom transaction between the teacher and children is enhanced.
Spelling out major reforms in the education department, the Minister said we have created a J-K knowledge network by connecting 200 schools from across the state through which they are delivered inspirational lecturers from the faculty of top universities of the country and across the world and more schools will be made part of this network soon.
Through this network, we are trying to pair the students of various regions and giving them opportunity to interact with students from other parts of the State thereby creating level of openness in their minds, the Minister asserted.
Vice Chancellor, Central University Jammu, Prof Ashok Aima, lauded the efforts of school education for taking keen interest in organizing workshops and skill development programmes for teachers who are the backbone of education system.
Head & Dean, School of Education CU, Prof Lokesh Verma apprised the Minister of various activities being conducted during the workshop and said this would be first of its kind in being exceptionally for DIET principals which would guide them to move beyond administrative to transformative and transformational leadership in uplift of education.
Resource person Dr. Charu Malik from NUEPA elaborated on various dimensions of leaderships in schools.
Later, the Minister interacted with the participants during a Master Trainers Training on Mathematics being organized by SIE Jammu in collaboration with Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA) and JODO GYAN under UNICEF Project J&K.
State Project Director, SSA, J&K Saugat Biswas was also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Minister visited Govt. Higher Secondary School Rahya in district Samba and interacted with the students regarding their studies and facilities being provided to them in the school.
