Srinagar: The Srinagar-Jammu Highway that connects the land-locked valley to the outside world witnessed the worst ever traffic jam on Tuesday allegedly due to the security forces vehicles leaving authorities helpless to tackle the crisis.
Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded since 11 in the morning on Tuesday till late evening hours near Jawahar Tunel, adding to the woes of already perturbed passengers. The authorities on the other hand seemed helpless in taming the worst ever traffic chaos. The passengers while expressing anger against such official apathy termed the government inaction disturbing while castigating people at the helm for giving rise to such a situation.
As vehicles were allowed to move from Srinagar to Jammu on Tuesday, some Forces vehicles caused the snarl.
When contacted SSP Traffic National Highway Fayaz Ahmad Lone told KNS that the issue has been resolved and smooth vehicular movement along the highway is being ensured with cops maintaining round the clock vigil for the same. (KNS)
