Srinagar: Some 10,00,000 Aadhar Enrolment forms gathering dust at the concerned offices in the state with no action over the issue being taken till date.
According to the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone the issue is being resolved at the highest level and a high level meeting in this regard is being convened. We will have a video conference with Jammu and Kashmirs Chief Secretary on Wednesday over the issue and I am sure within few days only, people would be able to get their adhaar cards from concerned offices of the state, Lone said.
Meanwhile, sources within the dispensation revealed that there are 10,00,000 people in the state of Jammu and Kashmir that have not been given the Aadhar cards till date despite completion of all the formalities.
It was divulged further that those who are being made to move from pillar to post for the issuance of the Aadhar cards include the students, job aspirants, daily wagers, government and private sector employees, widows and pensioners.
Interestingly, the Governor, N N Vohra, had in February,last year, directed the Information Department to complete the enrolment under the National Population Register (NPR) and issuance of Aadhar cards by March 31,2016.
However, the state still is reeling under crises over the want of Aadhar cards. How could such a pathetic display of work be there? It is the matter of a serious concern that there are 10 lac Aadhar applicants waiting for their cards and all are in desperate need of the same, says an applicant.
Meanwhile, it was informed that the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has taken serious note of the delays done in Aadhar enrolment in the state, directing the concerned to streamline the system so that applicants arent taken for a ride.
Currently, there are hundreds of women whose monthly widow and old age pension has been withheld for want of Aadhaar cards.
