Srinagar: Police, yet again, Friday prevented independent MLA Er Rasheed from visiting Pir Panchal region, as he was detained at Bamla Sunderbani by a heavy contingent of forces.
In a statement issued here, Rasheed accused the coalition govt of suppressing the voices of Muslims in Jammu province, communalising the state machinery and forcing Jammu police to act like B team of Hindu radical forces.
Pertinently, police didnt allow Rasheed to visit the region arguing that right-wing hindu organizations are going to attack him at Sunderbani and other places and was deported back to Jammu after being detained for 8 hours.
Rasheed while reacting to the police action said, While Crores are being spent from the state exchequer to propagate PDPs, RSS sponsored ideology in the name of celebrating anniversary of late CM Mufti Sahab, political opponents are being suppressed and police seems to have lost all the morality and professionalism.
The firebrand lawmaker said If thousands could be booked in Kashmir under fake stone pelting cases, why doesnt Jammu Police dare to take Hindu fanatic extremists to task, who dare to keep an elected MLA hostage and are terrorising Muslim community one way or the other.
Rasheed warned state govt of dire consequences and said, Even court orders dont prevent Jammu Police from displaying their vendetta and asked Mehbooba Mufti not to forget that she has to be accountable for every cowardly act of state terrorism and lawlessness.
